The Nevado Coropuna is considered the highest volcano in Peru. It is placed in the province of Condesuyo, department of Arequipa. It has an altitude of 6,425 m.a.s.l. It is of volcanic origin, it maintains a glacier that includes 7 summits that conform to the snow-capped mountain and the main summit that is to the northeast of the mountain; by its huge hydric reserve within its blocks of ice, it is considered a glacier.
If you wish to make this type of ascent, you need to make a previous acclimatization.
The departure is in the morning from Arequipa, in private transport, heading towards the Cotahuasi Canyon for approximately 8 hours, until we reach the Pallarcocha Lagoon, located at 4800 meters above sea level; the Pallarcocha Lagoon offers us a stunning view because it is situated at the foot of the Coropuna Mountain. You can appreciate nature, birds and get pictures.

This day we will start our hiking, from the base camp of Pallarcocha to the high camp, located at 5200 m of altitude. The road is uphill with a length of 4 hours approximately. On the way up we will have beautiful views of the peaks of Solimana and Sara Sara around it.
We will begin our ascent at approximately 2:00 am. Once in the glacier, we will be equipped with our equipment, and then we will continue ascending until we reach the long-awaited summit. The ascent lasts 6 to 7 hours and the return is in the same way approximately 3 to 4 hours.
Return to the city of Arequipa.
