The Pequeño Alpamayo is located in the Condoriri massif, within the Cordillera Real and belongs to the department of La Paz, with an altitude of 5425 m. Named for its resemblance to the lesser-known face of the Peruvian Alpamayo, it is a beautiful summit because of its sinuous edge, which takes us to the summit.
If you want to make this type of ascent it is necessary to be well acclimatized.
Our departure is from the city of La Paz in private transport, the trip takes about 2 to 3 hours by bus. Once we arrive at the tip of the road, we will prepare the luggage for the mules and then make an approximate 3-hour walk to the Condoriri base camp.
Overnight place Condoriri base camp.
This day we will begin the trek to Pico Austria, to achieve better acclimatization. The time it will take us to climb is 3 ½ hours, until the summit. From the summit, we will have a beautiful view of the Condoriri group and Lake Titicaca. The approximate descent is 2 hours, until our camp.
Overnight stay at Condoriri base camp.
We will start the climbing at 2: 00 am with all our climbing material, the walk is to the mountain glacier approximately 1 hour; then we will cross the Tarija peak (5200 m), with a rappel to the other site. It takes approximately 5 to 6 hours to climb to the top of Pequeño Alpamayo. From the summit, you can see the Condoriri. The return will take approximately 4 hours.
Overnight stay at the Condoriri base camp.
This day we will make the luggage, then we will take a walk of 2 to 3 hours until the mobility. Later transfer to La Paz.
Return to La Paz.
