It is a mountain that belongs to the Cordillera Blanca and is located in the Huascarán National Park in the Andes. It has a maximum height of 6162 m.a.s.l. It is located in the province of Huaraz, in the Ancash region, in the Callejón de Huaylas, Peru.
It is the most attractive mountain seen from Huaraz because its prominent “hunchback ” makes it very peculiar and attractive to the sight, its normal route is by the Northeast face with sections of rock and ice.
If you want to do this type of climbing, it is necessary to acclimatize previously for several days and be in good physical/technical conditions
The itinerary is a model to follow, however, situations such as natural disasters, climate change, landslides, political unrest, strikes, demonstrations, changes in government regulations or another force majeure may cause this program to vary.
We will start our expedition from the city of Huaraz on a private bus, which will take us to the small community of Pashpa; We begin our hike approximately 4 hours through the valley of Ishinca on a marked trail between the Quenuales until arriving at base camp. From here we have a privileged view of Tocllaraju 6032 m. and the Urus 5450 m.
This day we hike up hill for about 4 to 5 hours along the zigzagging path of the Ishinca snow-capped mountain to high camp where we will setup our tents. The camp has a view of the Ishinca and Ranrapalca snow-capped mountains.
We will begin climbing at around 1:00 am. We will begin making our way through the glacier until arriving at the foot of a 240m wall of rock and ice. After overcoming the wall, we will ascend through a glacier plate until we reach the top. From the summit, you can appreciate beautiful panoramic views of the mountains. Then we will descend by the same route of ascent to high camp.
On the 4th day, we will hike around 3 to 4 hours through the hiking trail down the valley to Cochapampa, where we finish our hike and return by bus to Huaraz approximately 1 ½ hour.
