Overview

The Humantay Lagoon is a turquoise mirror of water that lies at the foot of the towering snow-capped Apu Humantay. Its clear waters come from the melting of the snowy Humantay and are surrounded by the magnificent mountains and glaciers of the Vilcabamba Mountain Range. It is also considered a living icon of Peru’s scenic beauty. And it is one of the most visited scenic and natural destinations in the Cusco region. It is a mystical sacred place.

Note:

  • This type of tour is recommended, as part of your acclimatization. If you want to take trekking or climbing packages. We recommend taking more than one tour, to avoid problems with altitude. It is necessary to solve your doubts at the time of booking.

Itinerary description

4: 30 am: This day begins with the pick-up from your hotel, then we will board our mobility to travel to the Northwest of the city of Cusco, to the town of Mollepata this trip shows the lush valley of the Apurimac River.

9: 00 am: Mollepata in this small and picturesque town we will have a deserved breakfast to fill us with energy, then we will continue our trip until the point of beginning of the walk the town of Soraypampa that is to an altitude of 3,900 m.s.n.m. after a brief rest, we will begin our trip heading for the Humantay Lake located to an altitude of 4180 m; after the ascent of 1 hour 20 min approximately we will be able to appreciate the wonderful landscape, there we will have photographic takings and to enjoy the place. Finally, we will return to our campsite on the same path and on the way, we will enjoy our lunch with beautiful panoramic views of the snowy peaks and later we will be transferred to the city of Cusco.
