Overview

The Ahuac lagoon is located at 4550 masl. exactly in the jurisdictions of the district of Independencia in the province of Huaraz in the department of Ancash. It is located in the northwest direction of the city of Huaraz, going through the towns of Jinua and Paria Willcahuaín.

It has a moderate to difficult difficulty, shows a wide trail with eucalyptus forests on the way, Quenuales and crop fields. During the hike, you can see mountains with moraines and glaciers of the snowy Vallunaraju, Churup, Huamashraju, Cashan and the panoramic view of the city of Huaraz.

Itinerary description

7:00 am: Departure from the city of Huaraz in a private vehicle heading northeast to the town of Paria Willcahuain. It is there where we will start our 3 to 4-hour walk through trails surrounded by lots of vegetation, eucalyptus trees, pines, and Queñuales. When we arrive at the lagoon we will have a beautiful view of Huaraz and the snow-capped mountains that crown the Cordillera Blanca. Then we will descend to Paria Willcahuain, where our transportation is waiting to take us back to the city of Huaraz.

5:00 pm: Arrival in Huaraz.
