Huayhuash considered among the 10 most beautiful trekking circuits in the world and is one of the most impressive mountain ranges of the Peruvian Andes. In its 30 km from North to South, 7 mountains over 6000 meters and 7 elevations of more than 5500 meters; its varied and unparalleled scenery and panoramic views make it unique in natural beauty.
If you want to do this kind of walk, it is necessary to be well acclimatized; to be good physical conditions during the trekking.
The itinerary is a model to follow, however, situations such as natural disasters, climate change, landslides, political unrest, strikes, demonstrations, changes in government regulations or another force majeure may cause this program to vary.
We will start our departure from Huaraz by private bus, towards the South of Huaraz, passing through the provinces of Recuay, Ticapampa, and Catac. Reaching the height of Conococha (4050 masl), from where we will deviate to the East, following the road that will take us to Chiquian; then we will continue our trip by a trail, on the way we will pass by the towns of LLamac and Pocpa. Finally arriving at the camp of Cuartelhuain 4100 masl.

We will depart from our camp at 7:00 am to the first pass of the trek called Cacananpunta (4700masl), we will observe the Pucacocha lake and the snowy Ninashanca and Rondoy. Next, we will make the crossing with direction to the Lagoon Mitucocha (4270masl) finally we will descend to the camp (5 to 6 hours approx.).

We will depart from our camp at 7:00 am then we will ascend toward the Carhuac pass (4650masl), with a spectacular view of the snowy Siula, Yerupaja, and Jirishanca, then we will descend until the lagoon Carhuacocha (4650masl), place where we will spend the night (4 to 5 hours approx.).

We will begin our hike, by the left margin of the Carhuacocha lagoon (4100masl) until the end of the valley, to begin to ascend until the Paso Siula (4850m) from where we will obtain spectacular views of the snowy peaks of Yerupaja (6634masl), considered the second highest mountain in Peru and Siula (6356masl). Finally, we will descend to the Huayhuash camp (4350masl) (6 to 7 hours approx.).

Today we will ascend to the Portachuelo de Huayhuash pass located at an altitude of (4750masl), where we will appreciate one of the nearby mountain ranges called Raura. You will also observe the snowy Cuyoc, Puscanturpas, Trapecio, Jurao, and snowy Carnicero then descend passing by the Viconga lake until finally arriving to the thermal baths of Viconga, where we will spend the night (5 to 6 hours approx. of walking).

We will ascend by a small path up the valley until the second highest pass of our trek, Paso Cuyoc (5000masl) from where we will obtain spectacular views of the south and north of the Huayhuash mountain range, appreciating the Yerupaja, Sarapo, Cuyoc, and other snow-capped mountains, then we will descend to the Cuyoc or Elephant camp at an altitude of (4450masl) (5 to 6 hours walking approximately).

We will leave early in the morning until reaching the highest point in the trek, the Paso Santa Rosa pass (5070m). from this high point we will have spectacular and beautiful views of the highest mountains of the Huayhuash range like the Nevados Yerupaja, Sarapo, Jurao and impressive turquoise lakes, finally, we will descend towards the Cutatambo valley (5 to 6 hours approx. of trekking), until the camp of Cutatambo 4265masl.

This day we will leave our campsite down the valley, and then ascend by a well-marked path, arriving at our next campsite Huatiaq (4300masl). From the campsite, we will appreciate the Diablo Mudo and Bayo Grande snow-capped mountains.

This morning continuing with our walk we will ascend until we reach Tapush Punta (4400masl), during the journey with luck we will observe birds and wild animals of the area which will make our walk more attractive. Arriving at the highest point we will descend to our camp Angocancha (4400masl) where we will spend the night (4 to 5 hours approximately).

Continuing our morning walk we will ascend a zigzagged path to the top of the valley, until we reach the Yauchapunta pass (4830masl) from where we will observe the faces of the Rondoy, Jirishanca, Yerupaja, Rasac, Tzacra, and Diablo Mudo snow-capped mountains. If we have the chance, we will observe the imposing Andean bird flying above us, after a photo session we will descend through the next valley to the camp that is located at the side of the Jahuacocha Lagoon (4100m) (5 to 6 hours of walking).

Finally culminating our adventure we will follow the ascent of the last pass called Pampa Llamac (4300masl), where we will appreciate for the last time the imposing snowy mountains of the Cordillera Huayhuash, next we will descend by the well-marked path that will take us to the town of Llamac (4300masl), it is there where our private transport awaits for us that will take us to our place of departure, Huaraz (3100masl) end of the expedition (4 to 5 hours approximately of long walk and 4 to 5 hours of trip in bus).
Return to Huaraz.
