Overview

It is one of the lakes near the city of Huaraz, in Ancash. It is known for being one of the main tourist destinations of Huaraz, it serves as acclimatization for later climbing or trekking. For the same reason, it is preferred by travelers who seek a different experience next to nature. It is characterized by its clean, cold and crystalline waters.

Itinerary description

05:00 a.m. Our departure is from Huaraz city, by bus all along the Callejón de Huaylas, arriving at the city of Yungay at 55 Km. from Huaraz, then the road deviates to the east of Yungay.

07:00 a.m. Our trip continues, passing the National Park control point all over the Llanganuco Valley. On the way, we will find the lakes of Chinancocha (Laguna Hembra) and Orconcocha (Laguna Macho).

09:00 a.m. After the bus trip, we will arrive at Cebollapampa 3900 m. where we will start walking to Laguna 69. After 8 km. and 3 to 4 hours of walking you will arrive at Laguna 69 at 4604 m. This lagoon is very popular for its turquoise blue water.

You have a panoramic view of the mountains of Huascaran, Chopicalqui, Pisco, Huandoy, Yanapaccha, and Chacraraju. The return is by the same route of ascent approximately 2 hours and a half.

2:30 p.m. Arrival to Cebollapampa for the transfer by bus to Huaraz.

05:30 p.m. approximate arrival to the city of Huaraz and subsequent transfer to the hotel.
