Overview

Llaca Lagoon is located on the eastern side of Huaraz, within Huascaran National Park. Located at 4474 m. from the lagoon you can observe the snowy peaks of Ranrapalca and Ocshapalca; making a magnificent view. Also in this valley, there is a refuge that serves as a training ground for the mountain guides. The valley is home to Quenuales (Polylepis), considered one of the endemic plants of Peru.

Note:

  • This type of tour is recommended, as part of your acclimatization. If you want to take trekking or climbing packages. We recommend taking more than one tour, to avoid problems with altitude. It is necessary to solve your doubts at the time of booking.

Itinerary description

8:00 am: We leave Huaraz by bus, heading east, passing through the towns of Marian and Cachipampa until we reach the refuge. This refuge serves as a training center for the Mountain Guides of Peru. This circuit is considered appropriate for acclimatization, before doing hikes or climbing with much more demanding difficulty.

4:00 pm: Arrival in Huaraz.

What to bring:

  • Trekking shoes
  • A fast-drying base coat
  • The middle layer (medium weight fleece or a synthetic insulation jacket)
  • A wool cap and thermal gloves
  • Lightweight waterproof clothing (Gore-Tex) is recommended.
  • Windproof jacket, jacket (optional)
  • Shorts

  • Wear a hat for the sun
