Choquequirao is a lost city of the Incas, located between the foothills of the snowy Salcantay, belongs to the district of Santa Teresa, Province of La Convención, Department of Cuzco. In this archaeological monument of Choquequirao, the Incas took refuge from 1536.
The archaeological monuments of Choquequirao are made up of buildings and terraces distributed on different levels, from the lowest level Sunch’u Pata to the highest truncated peak, which was leveled and fenced with stones to form a platform with an approximate area of 150 square meters.

Our departure is from the city of Cuzco at approximately 6:00 am, by private bus to the town of San Pedro de Cachora. We will arrive at 10:00 am in this town, where the horses and the muleteers will be waiting for us. From here we will begin the walk, until the step of Capuliyoc 2915 m, you have a view of the valley of Apurimac and the first of Choquequirao. Then we will descend to Coca Masana 2330, finally, we will arrive at our camp. Walk approximately 7 to 8 hours. 18 km.

We will leave at 6: 00 am, after breakfast to our next campsite in Marampata, during this journey you will be able to appreciate a lot of vegetation; it is a 5 to 6-hour walk approximately and later visit the archaeological complex of Choquequirao 3103m. It is considered one of the great citadels with more than 8 hectares until now discovered a third of this.

During the sunrise, we can see the sunrise over the ruins and after a good time, we start to go down using the same path we arrived by, then we will make the walk back to our camp in Chiquisca.

We will leave in the morning, to avoid the worst heat in the canyon, on the way we will have magnificent views of the Apurimac Valley and the surrounding peaks; we will pass by the Capuliyoc viewpoint for the last time we will have the view of Choquequirao. What makes this hike unique, is being surrounded by the flora of this place. Finally, we will ascend to San Pedro de Cachora, and then return to Cusco by bus.
